Q

Donna, what was the song you sang in Conway, Missouri that you said you wrote after winning an award and you would have sung if they asked you to at the next awards night. Is it on an CD? I would love to have it. I truly enjoyed seeing you in Conway and getting a chance to talk to you. Keep writing and singing!!!! I love it.

Hi Becky,
The song is "I'm Not Afraid (To say my heart belongs to Jesus). I have not recorded the song although I hope to in the future. I am so glad you liked the song...it means so much to me. Here's hoping I see you again out there at a show!
Peace,
Donna

Just saw this....it was just a sinus/allergy thing but just bad enough to affect my ability to sing. Thanks Ron and Mary.

Q

Donna, Are you going to be able to spend any time in Flagler Beach after your gig in Bushnell, Fl. on the 20th of January? Your Palm Coast fan, Terry McClelland.

Donna Ulisse responded on 01/18/2018

Hi Terry, Sadly we won't. The guys in the band need to get home so we will leave Bushnell right after our show and head back to Nashville. I need some Flagler Beach time!

Q

Marty, the address is 18 Wainwright Drive, Poquoson, VA. Be there by 4 as the music starts shortly after. My cousin is doing a true Pig roast, with sides and iced tea. She is asking anyone wanting anything stronger to drink to BYOB. Coolers are welcome. Also, bring your own lawn chairs. It is a rain or shine show. they have a big place. Oct. 14. is the date. If you have questions text my cousin Tami at 757-813-1877. Thanks and hope to see you there!

Q

Hi Donna: Will you ever come back to Pucketts in Franklin, Tn.? You and the band were part of our courtship ( the seniors over 70 ) and we have been married 5 years. Remember Chattanooga rocks!

Just wanted you to know the band and I will be back at Puckett's in Franklin on Dec. 22 right before Christmas. Hope you can make it!

Q

Do you ever perform with Rebecca Long?

Donna Ulisse responded on 09/11/2017
A

Actually, Rebekah and I will be doing a benefit concert together in Poquoson, VA on Oct. 14. to raise funds for my cousin who has some huge medical bills treating her late stage Lyme disease. We also did a show together in WV a year ago I think it was. The show in VA in Oct. is at the home of my cousin who is doing a pig roast so it will be a house concert setting with a min. of 10.00 donation and all money going to my cousin's medical bills. I hope you can make it! Rebekah has a wonderful band and they will be there!

Q

Hi Donna,

Hope you're having a blessed day. You have a beautiful voice.

I discovered you and your music about an hour ago. I asked Google a question for something I'm struggling with as a songwriter. That finalizing rewrite stage led me to do some soul searching on "getting too attached to your song" habit I have sometimes. Your book was 4th on the list and that's where this connection began.

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&hl=en&q=are+you+getting+too+attached+to+your+song#q=getting+too+attached+to+your+song&hl=en

I plan on doing some more research on you and your music. From what I've heard so far is a blessing to my ears.

I do have a question. Have you ever struggled with rewriting a few lines in a song?

Thanks and God Bless,
Ronnie Glenn

Hello Ronnie, thanks for the question! A very successful writer once said to me, "great songs don't get written, they get re-written" & I firmly believe this. I am constantly going back to my songs, looking at them from every angle to see how I can strengthen them. I edit all the way up to a demo or recording session as my publisher can vouch for because after I record them, she'll listen to the recording to double check the lyrics on file & see many changes that happened the day of the recording. My theory is I always have what I started with & can always go back to that but why not try to keep improving it? I teach many songwriting workshops when I'm touring but have started a new type of workshop where only 6-8 seats are available & the students actually co-write with myself & Jerry Salley who has written many hits. This type of workshop offers insight into our process & can offer a writer a huge growth spurt. Details here:https://www.facebook.com/songwritingesca... Peace, Donna
